'Sandwiches' and 'Body Language'...

Last night I was blown away by 'Body Language's fresh breeze. Nice to hear a band finally providing us with a bit of fresh air.(think it's been a little bad on that front lately) Digging it! The Zero 7 concert was...annoying...or to be exact whoever did the lights was annoying. They had taken strong 4-5 spots/beamers, directed them towards the audience...ok for the opening ...maybe even 1 or 2 songs. But when you get blinded by the stage you are supposed to look at... it struck me so hard that it left an imprint of 'afterlights'.Felt like getting a hold of a flash-light and shine his/her darn face...to put it short; it was- fretting! BUT! BodyLanguage was great...they actually did a cover of 'Detroit Grand Pubah's Sandwiches. Here is the original

...Here's some more pubahs...

MmmMMmmMMM...

Ok she did it. My friend Halina showed me one more cool hotspot. This one is down in the village (as I written before).' The Bourgeois Pig'. Dark, Red,Sensual, Cool. Perfect to you hang with a friend also perfect if you are on a date ...share a fruit fondue and some wine drinks... if you head down a Tuesday (as we did)it's 50% on a any bottle of wine (and my head feels it today). Not bad. The spot became both Halina's and my new favourite spot.

Have your share of heaven...

What are you up to today? I'm meeting up with Halina later, she's going to take me to a wine bar down in the Village somewhere...Talking about bars I had an amazing cocktail experience Sunday after seeing the brother play of the 'Brother/Sister plays' @ Joe's Pub. 'Angel's Share' is the name of this Japanese gem. The drinklist was filled of cocktail specials that consisted of spices, home-made 'spiritus' flavours, unexpected taste combinations.

Look out for 'Little People'...

This link was given to me by my sister a while back. It's called 'Little People'. It's a street art project by the artist Slinkachu. The pictures above is called 'A close shave'... the ones underneath carries the name 'They're no pets, Susan!'

...found this picture when I goggled his name...it's dope but... poor snail...

Space Volcanos...

Aren't they amazing. Imagine how small we really are...compared to everything. Suddenly ones shoes doesn't feel so big to fill.

Quicksters...

* 'Little Dragon'. Saturday they are in town to preform @Le Poisson Rouge. (I hope my cold is better so I can for the first time ever see them live)...

...there are two exhibits going on in the city that I'm dying to see. Number one is the 'Tim Burton on @Moma' (mentioned it in previous posts)...
... and 'The Sesame Street 40years celebration' @ Brooklyn Public Library.Ok cold!?....want to set me free so I can indulge NY?

Sitting here typing...

my last words for tonight before my delicious encounter with my bed. The clock is showing Tuesday 12:04. Went for some electro-acupuncture yesterday in ChinaTown, in the evening I went down to GiantStep's Hudson-thing to hear some DJ Spinna spins. Today I've been not doing anything particular except thinking, eating a vegan burger, fries n' coffeeshake from 'Blossom' that's around the corner.Still haven't gotten around to sort out the batteries to the camera...can you believe it!? ridicolous. Oh yeah after the Spinna-thing last night I had a classic Tobelerone-meltdown. Mmmmm how can it be so...designed to melt in you mouth that way...gorgeous. Need to get back on track tomorrow...if you have a chance check out the meteorit shower that is happening right now. I'm pretty sure it's amazing. We were supposed to go up northern Manhattan to some park to look at it :).Pictures tomorrow. PROMISE .

An end...

70F = 21C...

Today I've brunched with the 'I love Vinyl' -Dj's. And guess what my smart-rump did forget... I forgot to take pictures of them and the brunch.(oooh no) They are still here but the batteries are dead.

Yesterday I jumped on a free water taxi and headed for (yepp you guess it) IKEA. Needed a new pillow and some other things. Man IKEA is SKANKY over here...it was filthy, everything in a little crocked mess, at the cashier a woman accidentally dropped a bunch of plates... some f-ing idiots decided to applaud the situation! (So freaking high school), the restaurant-food was ...hm..so so...think I'm just going to go back there for some Christmas things and leave it at that. After spending the whole Friday night there and indulging a tempeh-burger and nice tea-drink at home I fell asleep and woke up to gorgeousness. It's a super day here today, after 3 days of classic Scandinavian autumn weather. (rain, storm etc) NY decided to give us sun and warmth. After my brunch with the Dj's I went shopping and strolling (just a little)...nice to feel how my cardigan almost too warm to wear. Now I'm going to check out the latest episode of 'Project Runway' and sip some wine. Yummy. Happy Sunday Fam :)

(Smoodyful ain't it.)

My Status update...

The hip is better, the cold is subsiding, longing to see the Tim Burton exhibit that's starting next week @MoMa, chilled out in bed last night making a drum-pattern, think I should read more... btw did I tell you about the book I'm reading at the moment...I guess not, it's in Swedish , written by a Swedish artist ('Jakten mot Nollpunkten' av DeGeer), outside is grey today, not to cold...but grey, I'm in my black vintage negligee from the 70s and a beautiful white kimono (gift from my mother)...

...Afghan socks on my feet (my new favorit 'thick' sock), my hair...well it's out and big...all over the place, have painted nails ...graphite that's turning marina, cancelled my appointment at the Chiropractor/Acupuncturist in ChinaTown (to much coughing going on with me this morning), just sent Twilite Tone some voxs, checked out some gossip online, ate a Edamame/walnut salad...drank some green tea with that. Reflecting about friends, talked with OP over the phone, read half of the new TimeOut, going to go and buy some salmon for dinner... don't know what I'm doing with it yet, except that it's going in the oven somehow, bought my Russian dolls a new podium each...the eldest face still look a little pissed about it...

...thinking about buying a pink SonyVaio, thinking about throwing my American cell out the window so that it can crash and burn on Broadway (because it's not accepting international text messages) and I'm fascinated that WiFi- rabbits are so intelligent nowadays....think I'm going to see a Fred Astaire movie today...This it where I'm at....where are u?

Felas!...

I enter. I'm met by one of the most colourful stages, 'Antibalas' is on it playing...2 men in clothes from the 70ies are strutting around, chilling...checking things out...

Last night I saw the musical 'Fela!'. At first I was afraid, because I didn't know what to expect. But as it proceeded with smiles, humour, involving the audience, dancers every where you turned your head (btw ridiculously talented ones)...a comfort appeard in me. The musical is about Fela Kuti's life...to all of you that can be musical sceptics as me...hm...sceptic might not be the right word, but I need to be in the right mood that is for sure...my musical mood. (got my overdose from 'The Sound of Music', Mary Poppins, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar etc etc when I grew up), anyhow, to all of you that have a tendancy to feel like me; See it...all of you that don't..that hates or love musicals; see it. All of you that dig Fela: see it...to all of you that don't know who he was and to all of you that don't 'bag' him (as we say in Sweden = feeling him); see it. You won't be wasting your time on this one.

ps
Still totally aaaaawwwwwwed by the movie :)

'Mary and Max'...

I just experienced one of the most amazing movies this year; 'Mary & Max'. A big recommendation on that one. This clay animation is about an Australian 8 year old girl (Mary) that starts to pen pal with a random man in NY (Max)...

...love the storytelling...so good it makes me a jealous...I wish I had written it. A lot of cool details...all from how Max writes that he keeps his yarmulke on, even though he's an atheist, because it keeps his brains warm... to this scene describing Mary's grandpa...

...this movie is worth your time.

You know who?...

Koushik - One in a day...

Believe it or not, listening to music goes in phases for me. I recently been having my head very deep in to 2 new projects and about a couple of weeks ago my ears just yelled'n'screamed: AAAAAAAAAAAA nooooo mmooooooooore!!!! So this resulted in that I been only checking out the tracks I've posted on here, tweeted about and some retro-jazz when cooking. (this is dramatically less music-listening!). Been trying to tune into my environment instead when walking, running, talking, cell-phoning...waking up... The world has a lot good to say. This morning my head and ears felt like: ...hm..maybe we can start again and this 'Koushik'-track felt like a marvellous way to begin...

Ticker-Tape-Yankee...

Parade. City Hall was full of so much people...me and Scribe had to stand at the jumbatron a couple of blocks away with thousands and thousands of Yankees-fans. (not that I minded that )Talk about hanging out with a bunch of happy people a sunny but chilly Friday midday.:) A little bummed out that I didn't get to see the actual parade... feel the Ticker-tape-rain...but Scribe told me that he heard on the radio that the fans that were standing parade-upfront had been there since 3 am....I was asleep 3 am...

Manhattan-walk...

Yesterday I decided to walk from almost the top of Central Park to and over the Brooklyn Bridge. On my way there I spontaneously decided to see the exhibition 'Slash' at MAD. The whole exhibition is made with paper. With that said the above piece made by 'Andreas Kocks' is...yepp you are right! With paper...

...My walk continued. Bought a fake pair of Ray Bans that I pooped the licensees out, a huge turquoise ring (you will eventually see pictures of both)...

...The most marvellous enconture happened during this walk. I was crossing the street at NYU and on the opposite side comes no one less than my friend 'Shantell Martin'. Jet-lagged, confused and shocked as I was I couldn't really get a sensible word out, but it was sooooo nice to see her. And the bridge? Well...I manged to walk pass the ramp...by that time I had walked for 5 hours and actually felt to tired to walkback and over.... So I'll do that some other day. Guess the experience was more the journey than the actually getting there...

...these roses are part of my project 'Everyday'. Going to boost my creativity by trying to do a small mini project everyday. Conclusion: My sisters arranging are sooooooo much more gorgeous, she got the 'fingers', but I had so much fun and felt so free doing something that I knew that I'm not good at.

Pin-up Marge...

Have you seen the pics from November Playboy? Marge Simpson (Matt Groening) has decided to grace them with her animation...

Well, well, well...

After forgetting my credit card, putting it and my half-awake sister in a cab - destination 'Stockholm airport'. I crossed the Atlantic Ocean :) Good morning sunny-and-much-warmer-than Sweden New York.

I missed out on the marathon that went down here yesterday...BUT the streets were crowded with supporters, runners, curious George:es and other Homo Sapiens long after it was over. Went for an early dinner at 'Mana'.
