Fish - Music...

...Yesterday Scribe was spinning at Le poisson Rouge (Bleecker st, NY). There were 2 bands; The Chin Chin and The Budos Band. Chin Chin was ok live, enjoyed the keyplayer (that was running all over the stage) and the percussion/synt guy (had the cutest feet movements + a vintage synth from Radioshack).

The Budos Band: 11 guys, funky music and got releases out on e g Daptone Records. If you get the chance to see them live just DO IT, tight as hell live. Here's two youtubes:

...party ''the friends we love'' thing @ APT that Dego played the other day, Puma arranged it.

Almost forgot that they had taken pictures with this massively big Puma shoe... it's was huge I tell you. That was also the only pics in my camera that turned out ok. :( They had set up a little corner, snap-snap with the cam and then projected it on a wall so that everyone could see.

The prefect sleep...

... I can't believe that I haven't posted this on here. My sister was like: YOU NEED TO GET ONE!

Sitting in the studio...

... and having some breakfast. Been running...the usual. Nothing bad with usual, very pleasant indeed. Just mailed Miss Lorett, she has shaved all her hair off, making me super-jealous. I wish I had the balls to do that to. Well not balls...you get what I'm saying. Yesterday I was up Spanish Harlem and chilled with Taihisha.

btw: Apparently I got the Jean Grae thing backwards. She was retired and now is out of retiring.

This morning I wish that I could eat meat, eggs and pancakes. But since I'm almost vegan (vegetarian + lactose intolerant) that is not happening. I want to go to an old peoples diner, with cute curtains, turkoise leather and a sweet but peculiar waitress, that serves coffee in a mug that feels like a jug size wise. That would have been nice today:)

I think today will be a flying kite day. YES! that is exactly what is going to happen.

Lastnight I had the pleasure to see Jean Grae @ Joe's Pub doing a love-lovely theme. Apparently she has retired, but decided to come out and do a smooth set. It was really good, she's a REALLY good liveact. She opend up with getting everyone to sing kareoke to 'All by my self'. I manged to catch some on video...

...the set moved on backed up by Dj, gitarrist and perc. A nice evening.

After that to SOB's for the De Clive Lowe. Never seen him live before....seriously the man is tight 'beat'ing up the MPC for the crowd. And of course to here Karizma spinn was beautiful...made me wish that is was a techy-night. Really wanted to here some Karizma -techno.

Rushen & Saturday...

... Omg! You know how much I love saturdays. It's crazy :) I feel so happy I can jump up and down, round,round and more time. Today this sunny NY-afternoon I've been listening to 'Tribe' and Patrice Rushen. (if you ever heard the song 'men in black' w Will Smith, this is the lady that is sampled) Right now the CD is spinning it's second time '....let the music take me...'.

So! today what am I up to? Some studio, some phone calls, some Mark de Clive and Karizma @ SOB's, hair washing, painting nails grey or blue (can't decided), ...hm...wine? or something. OH! btw; last night I saw the documentary 'March of the penguins'. You need to see it, seriously those emperor birds have patience. ...I'm up and about already . Yesterday, one glass of wine and BAM! feel asleep at home with my laptop. Hung with the RawFusion NY guys, 7Samurai and JayStarSeven. Was soooooooooooo tired thou that some nice cuddly bedtime with my mega-computer was the alluring theme for last night. Was thinking if I should murder my body with a good run today, still a little cold to run, Went monday and I litterally was passed by this super-oldy....3times...mewh... And I want to run the marathon next summer! :S

Ok! So the spit thing happend yesterday, when that happens I feel my mother appear within and through me and I would love to turn around and say EEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!
Or something clever that I haven't thought about yet.

... I'm having a Miranda July faze. BE just showed me her movie, 'Me and You and Everyone we know' and introduced me to her book 'No One belongs here more than you'. Somehow I feel as if I finally found a woman whose fantasy outdoes mine by lengths....I'm jealous... VERY jealous.

eg the opening story in the book I'm talking about is about when she falls asleep while her neighbor, that need her help, has an seizure...and falls in love with him whiles she is asleep... and he's in the seizure...I know a mess...but the stories are amazing.

On the flight over...

...to NY I was sitting behind to American ladies that decided that they should be friends (which is cute) then came this tall Swemerican man and talked about champagne and declared that 'Germans are absurd and awfull ' (Which was super weird because we were on a flight from Munich) .

Then after 4 hours one of the ladies rang the air hostess and loudly declared : That she was an example of a nice person from Germany (the flight was a little irritated by now, and I feel them!)

....I ...Jeeeeeesh! isn't rule number one. Don't offend the country you are in ...or flight that you are flying :S

Verner Pattern...

... I really adore extreme shapes and silhouettes. I humoungously adore (if that's even possible to say) Verner Pattern.

His space-design's are both breathtaking and inspiring. (from 1950 and forward) Talk about pushing boundaries bigtime! I've been walking around with pictures of his 'spaces' in my clipbook for years and finally today, I net-stumbled on his name. So glad to share him with you. He is also the father of the famous chair; 'Stacking chair' (one of the first plastic molded chairs in the 60's).

I read somewhere that he studied for Arne Jacobsen (AJ designed the chair 'the ant'), I wish that their conversations were recorded somewhere, love to hear them!!
